It looks like a key hole cover from a lock, but there isnt any size reference, so it's hard to say.

Thanks SCMding for posting that for me. I don't have it with me to give exact dimensions but I will guess it was 1 1/2" tall by 7/8" wide. The back is plain. There is the tab on the top and bottom and something that went off to the side that is corroded. The base material was copper with some kind of plating mostly worn off. That is about all I can give for details.
