Our club had our monthly outing today at a small park in Springfield Oregon ~ we had nine members show up and we dug lots of clad and misc. The hunt ended at Noon and I went home to eat & relax for a while. Then I met Richard downtown to do some more detecting. Here's my totals for today:

11 clad quarters
24 clad dimes
11 nickels
120 memorial cents
5 wheat cents (all from the 40's)
TRADE TOKEN ~ GRAY BROS. EUGENE OREGON

The token is GOOD FOR 5c IN TRADE. I didn't find any silver today, but digging the trade token made up for it!

Thanks for looking!
Neil

Nice find!

I'm another big fan of tokens. They've got so much history behind them.
I'll take them tokens any day.

Trade tokens are always fun to find. Way to go.
Have you been able to find out what kind of
business Gray Bros. was? Jimbob

No, not yet! I'll call the Lane County Historical Society tomorrow and give them the info ~ they should have record of when GRAY BROS. was in business and what kind of business they were and where they were located. I'll update this thread when I get more info!

OC,
I'm with you. I love finding old tokens too. Congrats to you.
You may know about this token site already, but I just discovered it yesterday. Someone turned me on to it while researching a bar token I found two weeks ago in Indiana.
Enjoy:

That trade token is in pretty good shape and somewhat rare to find. :icon_sunny:
Hope you can find more info on the Gray Brothers and what they did in the Eugene area. :icon_study:
I'm trying to research the two Pinkerton buttons that I found and haven't had much luck yet. :icon_scratch:
See you at the club meeting tuesday night. Gold Nuggets :icon_jokercolor:

Hi Kip! That's cool that you & Shane got to go detecting! Is your 1911 wheat an "S" mint?

Hi Mike!

It will be a while until I get to take off any weekdays. I currently don't have an assistant here ~ too much stuff to do to take off any weekdays! I'll have to wait until the weekend to do any detecting.

Later!
