I think your whatsit in the fifth picture looks alot like the top off of an old German style beer mug although the size seems too small.

Jeff -

Here is a link to report a bird band: http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/bbl/homepage/call800.htm

They will send you a response certificate in the mail. I have reported many bands, usually seen on Canada Geese (living).

Let me know what you come up with. I'd be interested to know.

Are bands found often when metal detecting (by yourself or others you are in contact with)? I never really thought about this but it is a pretty good way that treasure hunters could help bird conservation. These bands hold a lot of data because a bird banded in say Alaska could have its band found in Florida or wherever proving that the bird migrated that far.

Thanks for visiting!

After looking at site Above Not Federal Band.

Must be Homing or Racing Pigeon

Also got This

from from The International Federation homing pigeons

I would say its a pigeon band, but I am not about to be looking with you, have a fun search,
I would say its a band for fancy birds

& this from the 3rd. site

Hello,

Thank you for your message. Our bands begin with AU (denoting our organization), followed by the year, club letter & id number. Example: AU 2003 OKC 3245.

Unfortunately, this is a band we don't recognize.

Karen

vicki

Do they make Bedwarmers for realy Tiny Beds ?

it measures about 2" across not counting the Tongue

That piece you have reminds me of one of the old personal ashtrays that people use to carry in thier purses. but only one hald is there. can you see where their may have been a hinge or butto release of some type on it.?
