Re: 13th-14th Century GOLD Stirrup Ring
Beautiful ring, hope you find more. :P
I'm still waiting for the farmers to start their harvest.
Det vi vet er så uendelig lite mot det som har hendt. Arkeologen er som den som går langs en strand og finner småtterier, skyllet i land fra et forsvunnet skib. Men selve skibet som gikk i dypet med menneskene får han aldri se.

Re: 13th-14th Century GOLD Stirrup Ring
An average bloke would not have had a ring like that, would they? That had to have belonged to some type of rich or important person of the time. Could you speculate? I'm just blown away by that ring, that is so awesome!! Was that like pre King James time? I'm skinning my ignorance, somebody jump in here.
Beautiful,

First, I would like to say Congratulations on your Banner find..
Second, I would like to say your post of that day's experiences and events is just about the best story of a day in a Metal Detector's life that I ever read, from the change of plans to finding true gold treasure (half out of the ground, no less!) to the return of a precious memory to another...... Can't beat that kind of day....May you have many more.

Re: 13th-14th Century GOLD Stirrup Ring
the banner says it all wow!
I also want to say what a great story about the farmer. You know the conversation to his wife went something like this "see honey I told you I didn't loose it, I just misplaced it and that it would turn up" which probably ended with a skillet to the head.
See what Karma got you , you return a ring lost a few years ago and end up with one from hundreds of years ago.
