Hello, as I was driving by, the one room school house (built 1891) was getting a new playground and they graded off about 5 inches of soil. I asked and they said sure, but after they left at 6. When I got there, I asked when they would finish and they said that they were putting the gravel in tomorrow. It was pretty slow going for a while, but the good finds started showing up. I got a 1912 wheaty, then I got a 1892 beautiful Canadian large cent! then some whatsits. The medallion I have no idea how old it is or what it means and I would like some info. Then the pin says "Tournament C.M.N.S. '20" with what looks like a football around it. I rounded out the day with a 1930 wheat, a broach, and the end of a quill pen...it says H.W.Armstrong, is that a brand name, or is it personalized? Lastly, I caught one of the teachers and asked to MD. She was very nice and took me for a tour and gave me permission.

I collect fountain pens and I think I know what (part) pen you have found, can you get a picture of the front side? What is in your pic is the back. Either way, that pen part is probably 14k gold. Nice find.

On the pen part, the band that is engraved is some ones name. It may be gold or gold rolled plate. The nib is were the ink flowed to go to the paper,( it is abouve the part that looks like solder and comes to the point) it may be gold, and also may have the original makers name on it.
