The fields are coming in thick and fast now for detecting this side of the big pond!

Managed to hit the field within walking distance of my house.

Not sure if the coin or medal is French or Swiss, Crusader may point me in the right direction.

Thanks for looking.

Crusader thanks,

Any ideas on the button, livery?

Could not quite work out the first letter in the GPC, like your site this ones had a lot of rubbish dumped on it over the years. (according to the farmer)

Doug

Lots of these lying around!

Most likely billon and when aged can look like both silver or brown like the one above.

Here's a 5. maybe, could be either. (But the 5 kinda looks silver which would rule it out)

Here is a real good example of what I'm talking about, the color change in billon.

Above is lots of Livery buttons, they date from 1790-1850ish

They were used on landed family uniforms, mainly that of the servants.

Or are you asking what family the Livery belongs to?

Just wondered had you seen this type of livery button before, and was there any special significance to the insignia.

I have not seen this type before, the closest I have is a cock on its own (& don't laugh). There are tons of designs & I have no idea what any of them mean. But I do like them all.
