Nice finds...I think someone else found the exact same button with the '55' on it not too long ago. I remember seeing it within the last two or three weeks here on T-Net.

You throw around the term expert on a very loose basis. :icon_jokercolor:

I just checked my books and no match but based on what I see I still think it's probably 1800s. Usually when a button is a little thicker like that it is later. (post 1700)


PS.. You know you're tired when you go to put your coffee back on the bookshelf instead of the book. :D :D :D

Your other button is upside down :D 1700s British Royal Artillery.

I have Military Buttons of the American Revolution by Don Troiani. Also, Parkyn Shoulder belt plates and buttons, Alberts for American, and Dating Buttons by Tice. Plus I have a few other things printed out by friends and mailed to me.
