I knew this cellarhole had been pounded hard by several detectorists before me but this spring I worked it over anyways and came up with some neat flat buttons and misc. relics but no coins.
One of the things I found this spring was a brass whatizit that remained unidentified until recently when I posted it in the what is it forum. It is a brass tent rope adjuster. Nothing special but still a neat relic and it got me thinking about the area where i dug it. A nice flat spot in the woods about 30 yards from the actual cellarhole where someone must have pitched a tent at one time?...
To make a long story short..I hit that spot in the woods tonight where i had found the tent rope adjuster this spring and came up with an 1883 Indian Head and a neat little whatizit. Sometimes it pays to follow a hunch. Here's a few pics HH,Jerry

Looks good Jerry. :icon_sunny:

The only trip to Columbus last year my son and I stopped and hunted a house in Utica. We found three 1883 IHs on that hunt.

Nice finds Jerry! You should really consider digging the outhouses, should not be to hard to find and they really are not full of shiite by now, just discolored dirt that will warn you to go slow about digging. HH, Mike
