Yesterday I went to the tot lot down the road from my house.

They held a Fall Fest celebration at the park yesterday and
I wanted to see if there were any new drops. I used my \
Compadre on this one.

In the above photo, everything from the penny and nickel
to he right is new droppings. I know because I hunted this
tot lot before the Fall Fest celebration. I always get the
chewed up aluminum bits on the left.

Today, I hunted around the swimming pool in the same
park.

I have found a lot of jewelry around the above pool in
the last year. That includes 4 gold rings.

I decided to use my Euro Sabre.

I was surprised at how the amount of targets has been
reduced sense I have been hunting here. When I first
found jewelry here with my Silver Sabre uMax, about
October of last year, it was one of the trashiest sites I
have ever hunted.

It just goes to show, you can get the trash out to some
degree if you are persistent. I’ve hunted here countless
times in the last year.

Today I found a broken shark’s tooth pendant. At least I
think it’s a pendant. I also found a junk ring and two ear
rings. I broke one when I dug it. The other one is a spiral
and appears to be silver.

It was a very nice day in Arkie Land. NO! It Was Fabulous.

Just a joy to be metal detecting.

Thanks for Looking,

Hay Rmptr,

During the winter I tried to clean all the aluminum out of that tot lot.
I hunted with that goal for months. After I went over the whole
thing like I was doing a test garden. I recovered tens of thousands of
aluninum shreds. At one point I had it where it was hard to find one.

But after a few months there was still pieces of the stuff all over the
place. I tried to clean it out some more and I finally gave up.

Now I just recover the ones close to the top. I just leave the deep
ones, unless they sound funny.

The stuff seems to float to the surface?????? Can that happen???

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog

Personally, in my own opinion, and NOT scientific, TD,

I think the earth 'churns'.

Old coins may be deeper, but depending on soil type and conditions,
I don't think they keep going down 'til they get to china.

But there's a lot smarter people than me, and many more experienced detector people.

I guess maybe a golden BB would go down 'til it settled on rock, but jewelry is odd shapes.

...all it takes is one slip up, or a bad day for the park mower guy and there's a new flock of canslaw!

I do my best to pick them up when I see 'em.

Best
