    First time out

Went out for the first time since getting the MT back in spring (besides some testing in yard with different types of coins and metals). Been browsing the site almost daily since then, but obviously never had the opportuntiy to post any findings. The knee and shoulder felt okay today, so decided to finally get out while the wife and kids were at church. Only had two hours to MT until I had to get back and start on the yard work. Only had time to MT about 50 yards on one side of the road. This metal dececting stuff is a lot harder then it appears. I'm sure it doesn’t help that I have a low end MT, and proably just wasted most of the time out. Got a Gold Century Pro Color, and used daughters cheap MT which seems to do okay id'ing for type of metal.

Family owns part of Continental Road used by the likes of Geroge Washington and Ben Franklin. Got a 1951 D wheat right off the bat near the main road where I parked. Got tired of digging nothing but junk and small sections of barbed wire. Set MT to “disk” and found an odd disk of metal. Was surprised at the weight when I dug it out. Looks almost like a hand poured ingot, but probably not. MT indicates silver, but again not sure. Got home and weighed it at 4.49 ounces, and a magnet doesn’t stick. Not far found from the spot, got a lot of readings at about 6." But tough work with all the roots, and only got a small section dug. Found metal which might be a pipe under roots, and then had to go home. A pipe in the location makes no sense whatsoever. Reading showed all sizes of coin, and gold, silver and copper. Was wondering if this could this just be a bunch of false readings?

If anyone lives near the Blue Mountain Ski resort, near Palmerton, PA, knows what they are doing, and wouldn’t mind showing a newbie some of the tips of the trade, PM me. Maybe next couple of weekends before the gound gets hard.

I thought lead also, but at 3/16" thick, it doesn't bend.
