It was cold today out in the field

I went out to one of my favorite spots today (braving the cold) and did some relic hunting. I found the usual square nails, jar lids, and big pieces of junk metal, but i did manage to pull out of the ground a few interesting items. 1-3 left to right

    1. I think this may be a gear from a pocket watch

    2. A .69 cal minnie

    3. Not sure what this is but it is iron, a little smaller than a quarter, about as thick as a quarter. The front looks just like the back..there is to much corrosion on it to make out any detail.....maybe somebody can give me some suggestions on what it is.

That iron piece looks like maybe an underwear button.
    Have you considered electrolysis?

1943 steel cent? keep in mind the rust on it would make it "thicker" and have a "larger diameter" than your typical penny. But who knows.

Great digs!!! If you were near a old house, the iron slug might be a knock-out form a electrical panel, I've found those before.........

I agree on the steel penny as I have found several in the past. Steel penny all the way.
