    TejasDigger strikes gold! Update!!!!

I went to my parents house today to do a little more detecting. I really didn't expect to find much because I've been all over the front and back yard with two different detectors. There wasn't many signals, but I came across a pull tab/ring signal, so I decided to dig it. Expecting to see a pull tab pop out, I was pretty surprised to see something gold. I washed it off in the sink and saw that it was a Mason's ring and had 10K stamped on it. The only negative thing is it has a brake at the band, and it is pretty thin. This is my first gold peice so I'm pretty happy with my find. Here are the pictures:

    Anything on the inside?
I tried to post a picture without using photobucket and couldn't get the size figured out. I sent animal an email with the picture to see if he could change the size. I finally figured out how to do it. I told him there was a test section but he posted it here, lol. The only thing that's on the ring is 10k.

You can always apply the decal/placard to the hod. Also some tires and a steering wheel.

    We must fulfill destiny.
I talked to my dad about it and he says it could have been my grandfathers. He knows he was a mason, but doesn't remember that ring. It's kind of funny because I know I've skipped over that signal probably ten times. I have dug millions of pull tabs just like Plehbah and only found three rings. It kind of makes you want to dig all those type of signals. I wonder how many diamond rings we have passed up on? Is there any value to the ring being a mason's ring other than the gold?

Nice looking ring... And to think it could be your grandfathers! I'd be searching through old photos to see if I could find one with him wearing it.

After talking to my dad he said the ring could have been my grandfathers or my great grandfathers. I talked to two of my great uncles, and one of them said it was my great grandfather's. It turns out my grandfather had it and when he died in 1986 my grandmother gave it to my great uncle John. He put it in his pocket and when he left, he took his keys out of his pocket and dropped it in the front yard. They searched all over but couldn't find it. My uncle John is in Vietnam right now, and when he returns I'll send him the ring.

Those old worn masonic rings have a lot of aesthetic and sentimental value, much greater than their melt value. I know guys who purposly bought worn masonic rings in pawn shops for that very reason. And they wear them with pride. Good end to a great story and even greater find. Monty
