If you won't dance the Monkey Dance, then I will. Right now, in front of the computer's monitor. You have to go back and dig more. At least to see if you find any of the leather.

The guy who taught me everything I know about detecting (who lives in Virginia) found a whole box this spring with both plates. No bullets in it though.
That is one heck of a find.

Thanks!.... How many rivets and roller buckles did he find?? I have found example with various amounts.. 2 to8 rivets.. 1 or 2 rollers.. and other brass depending on if the percussion portion was lost to? I guess I'll figure out more tomorrow afternoon ;-) I'm envisioning a big hole!!!

I think there were four rivets, but I don't remember him mentioning the roller buckles. Congratulations on that incredible find. How many plates from that spot now?

If you count rosettes, 7 maybe 8... other wise 6 standard US Plates... getting close to my best spot from years ago!! ;-) Hard to believe these days..
