I cant believe my luck ! I just got my new headphones this morning but the rain was coming down hard FINALLY it let up for a bit so I headed to the orchard. Swinging along and digging trash......... I thought for sure that this signal was some more junk. Not very deep, so I was not very carefull. BAM !! Belt plate was in my hand and I was doing the happy dance!
I managed to hit it with my shovel but.......... oh well, I have a freekin' belt plate
Blasted plow had to nick it! What a beautiful plate. Looks likeit was nearly new
A Bammer!
Not a plow I hit it with my shovel

Well, no matter (and we've all had that one day ) it's still one beautiful piece of history. More importantly, you recovered it so we could all enjoy it. Thank you, and glad you had the time to dig it, and share it!
That's a really great looking belt plate and certainly a banner find. I found a circa 1815-1825 militia belt plate back on November 10, 2006, and it made the banner (page 6, second row from bottom), so I think your's will be up there shortly. P.S. I like yours better!
Congratulations! I found one very similar years ago in New York. Called "Star of Stars", It is a War of 1812 Militia Artillery Officers sword belt plate. Nice find. Niffler
