Gold Coin Love Token and More!

    Hey Guys!
    Hope everyone is doing well!
Warning, long story ahead! Turn back now or just scroll down to see the pics!
Late last season me, Seabiscuit and another buddie took the boat to a spot we wanted to try. It was early in the morning and they were calling for passing showers but clearing by lunch time. We had never been to this spot before but had seen something about it in a book.
Well we get there, drop anchor and hop in the water. Sure enough, a short time later Seabiscuit finds a silver ring. And all of us started finding coins & other junk. But then here comes the rain. Rain don't bother us much because we are wet anyway. But when the waves started rolling in like Hawaii Five O and the boat started to drag the anchor toward shore it was time to go! :P So we throw all our gear in the boat and head out looking for a calm spot to wait out the storm. That was the worst boat ride I have ever been on! We had to go slow because we were heading right in to the waves. I was sitting up front on the bow & my big butt was coming off the seat every time we hit one!
Finally we find a spot where the wind was not blowing towards shore and we sat there until the storm passed. The whole time we were sitting there I was looking around and thinking this might be a good spot to hunt. So before we pulled up the anchor and headed back to the first spot we decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad we did! Like they say "The rest is history!"
We ended up staying there the rest of the day. I found 4 gold rings that day and the guys also found a few! We went back a few more times finding more rings each time before it just got too cold & the season was over. But the good news was we now had 2 brand new spots to hunt for next season.
Now, fast forward to yesterday and we have been itching all winter to get back out there! Seabiscuit could not make it but he told me and our buddie to "go get it!" So we did! Once again we get there, drop anchor & I hop in the water. Well, while my buddie is still on the boat putting on his wetsuit, on my third target I pull up this silver ring!

It had something rusty wrapped around it and as it turns out what ever that was ate all the way through it as you can see. Funny thing about this ring is it gives a mid tone just like gold. Not high tone like silver. White gold maybe? I don't know.
Some time goes by and we both are just digging mid tone targets going for the gold! I dug a ton of fishing sinkers & some other junk.
Then it happened!! I get a good solid mid tone and dump my scoop on my floating sifter. And right there shinning in the sun like it was brand new was this sweet little gold coin!!

I was stoked! I felt pretty blessed right then because this was the second Gold coin I have found to date. And I know guys who have hunted much longer than me & have never found one. It turned out to be a one dollar, Indian Head, type 3 from 1856 to 1889 that was made into a love token! To me that makes it a one of a kind Gold Coin! I'm not sure if the initials are T.H.M. or T.M.H.. What do you guys think?
After showing my buddie I decided to put it in the boat so I did not lose it. Earlier my head phones cord had snagged the zipper pull on my pouch and unzipped it. The plastic container I put my finds in then floated out of my pouch. Luckily I saw it and I filled it with water so it did not want to float any more. But after that I did not want to take a chance so I waded over to the boat and put it and the silver ring in my cooler. While I was there I grabbed my phone off the console and texted the good news to a few detecting buddies and my wife. I was so pumped I just had to tell someone! I also took this picture of myself standing at the back of the boat to catch the moment.

I went on to find this 10k 1970 class ring! The search is now on to the find the owner!

And what I think is the top to another ring. It has a Spanish looking soldier on it and the bottom is made of brass.

I also found this little crown, and this tube that I'm not sure if it's just some kind of shell or a clay pipe stem. Does anyone know?

This last picture is of my new stainless steel scoop & the pile of fishing sinkers I dug! LOL!

My Buddie found a nice & thick 18k wedding band with initials in it and a few other things.
Needless to say we can't wait to get back out there!
    Thanks for looking!

I agree on finding the Gold coin as a love token is more special than just it it were a gold coin! Congrats on a banner worthy find, that is a thing of beauty.......

Rob, that is a Terrific spot and an Awesome Day!! I love seeing those $1 Gold Coins pop out of the sand/dirt. They ALWAYS look so awesome since Gold doesn't react with the soil, they come out looking fresh and new like you said, so did the one I found last year at the Civil War stockade. What more can you say, you got Silver and SWEET GOLD! CONGRATS BIG GUY!
