Thrice is Nice!!
Got this "somewhere" in Phoenix today. First one ever dug. It's def. variety 1 because it has no wreath and arrows.
I just don't know the year, it's pretty worn.
Thanks for looking!!
Is it a 1851, 1852 or 1853

After posting the pic. I think I see an "O" so it could be an 1851?

Looks like an 1851 O to me! Note the "O" mint mark on the reverse side to the right of the C. http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/CoinDet...s=3665&redir=t

That's right, green check 1851o,
also Star on later varieties is larger, almost touches legend.
Nice find! itty bitty fishscale, the idea behind this coin issue was to make purchasing the new 'Postage Stamps' easy, they cost 3 cents
Congrats

Thanks for all the replies. Does anyone know why they got rid of the coin?

Re: Thrice is Nice!!
I wish they still made those old coins. Those 2 centers and 3 centers were so cool to me. I imagine they got rid of the 3 center cause it was so dang small! Probably got lost too easy.

That looks like a nice one. Still on my list to find - I guess you can cross that one (three) off your list.
Keep it Up!
