I took these 2 days off in the hope that he would have ploughed this field by now, however, it was not & I continued in the stubble for 4 hours 15 minutes (on my own).

The main aim was to get 1 hammered, I got 2 instead8-)

Ed I Penny - Canterbury Mint
Cut 1/4 of Henry III
1668 Halfpenny Token (1 I need)
3 Lead Tokens - 1 with mans head left
Medieval Buckle & Plate
Georgian Buckle
1/2 of a Medieval Swivel
Medieval Key (Broken)

Another good outing & back to work tomorrow:tongue3:

Again great finds you come up with. Simply amazing.

Do you and CruDad simply collect these items or help stock a museum or ...?

It would seem you'd need quite a large vault to store all these items in.

grats again Cru!

grats again Cru!

I collect & Dad gives:thumbsup: Nothing is for sale, but many items are given to the various landowners. I do have displays in the Local Museum & I do some community/public type '1 off' displays.

Vault is nearly the right word.

That Field has produced 71 Hammered for Dad & I (in nearly 3 years), not including all the ones the Night Hawks took plus a few by Shaun7 & others.

The stirrup shaped object is the Medieval Swivel, it has a tiny hole at the base & the matching one is missing.

Ok, now i can see the hole too. Was it used on a belt or is this some kind of mount?
71 hammered is stunning! What was the use on that field? Something like a market place or similar? We have some fields like this one with very good soil and only used by farmers. All the finds there are from dumping waste out of a city nearby.

These are thought to be dog/hawking swivels.

The function is a difficult one (not documented), I think you pretty much stated it, it has the best sandy soil in the area & was probably dumped on. Although its near the river & a mill, so I think trade grow up around it.

Thanks for the explanation Cru. Too bad that the strip of fields i mentioned is a 110 mile roundtrip for me. It's hunted heavily by nighthawks anyway...

Yes, thats about the limit of our furthest land & the 45 minutes it takes can sometimes be better spent on land that I can cycle to.
