    finally,my first gold coin.

and it only took 26 years lol.
i've been taking my camera with me for a while now just in case i found something nice but i never expected something this nice.

here is the field i've been on for the last few days.

i was on it this afternoon for about an hour with only scrap to show for it.
got a signal that i thought was more lead.
dug out some soil(muddy soil at that) and saw the edge of a gold coin.got my camera out and took these.

    its a GEORGE 111 spade guinea 1788.
to say i'm a happy camper would be a slight understatement.

    Excellent - Sure feels good 8) 8)

Easy £200 coin, still looking for a spade Guinea, I have the early sheild 1777. Closest I get is the gaming tokens

Forgot to say, keep all your old lead it will soon be worth more than that coin. Its fetching high prices as scrap.

    WOOOOO HOOOOO!

And AMAZING photos to boot! Usually when someone digs a gold coin, we never get to enjoy photos of it coming out of the ground. Looks like you savored that moment AND captured it with your beautiful photography. Way to go!

    Beauty!

How can it be you have waited 26 years to find a gold coin and some who only visit the UK on the paid holiday tours have found as many as two or three? Do most serious detector people in the UK have a gold coin to their credit, or are Americans just very lucky.

That's an awesome find, a big congrats to you! It will take several weeks to calm down, several months before you actually put it away for safe keeping then you will take it out on occasion just to look at it. That's how it was for me when I found my gold coin. Welcome to the gold coin club! HH, Mike

    Re: finally,my first gold coin.

Now that's one heck of a keeper. Banner for sure. I have been hunting for over 20 years also and have yet to strike a gold coin. I have hunted ghost towns, mining camps old home sites and the gold still has eluded me. I wonder how long it will remain on my wish list! Congrats on such a stunning coin. HH
