I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this token?
It show a greek god I believe it suppose to be Hermes?? ??? It says on one side....Coin Of Olympus. At the top and at the bottom it says...carnival of New Orleans. Then below that...Hermes - God Of Commerce.

On the other side... It shows Peter Pan flying!? Big Ben clock in London and Hooks Ship flying!? ???
At the top it says...Back To Never Land 1977. And at the bottom it says...Hermes XXXVI

Hey Gigi,

It's a doubloon from the Krewe of Hermes. It's a Mardi Gras Organization whos parade route is usually down St. Charles to Canal St. and they end up by the Convention Center. 1977 is the actual date of the doubloon. The XXXVII stands for 1937. This was the date the Krewe formed.

"Back to Neverland" was the theme for the parade that year. Every year, every krewe has a different theme.

I'm from New Orleans. Any Mardi Gras questions, just give me a yell.

Take Care-Mike
