Re: Cudahy's Diamond "c" token

This advertising token was struck by the Greenduck Co. of Chicago, which I believe was founded in 1906. So, that would seem to be the earliest possible date for it.

That said, it might not be a lot later: I found "Cudahy Diamond C Meats - 'The Taste Tells' " ads dating as early as 1909.

However, the Cudahy Diamond C brand itself dates back at least to the late 1890's, as the company also marketed Diamond C brand soap at that time.

Re: Cudahy's Diamond "c" token

Here's more history on the founder, Patrick Cudahy:
http://www.patrickcudahy.com/company-history.html
The company is still in business:
Patrick Cudahy Inc.
One Sweet Apple-Wood Lane
Cudahy WI, 53110
1(800) 486-6900
I find it interesting to note that in 1908, Michael, one of Patrick's brothers, sold his interest in the Cudahy Packing Co. and bought a 2,800-acre ranch east of Los Angeles. He subdivided the land and sold it as one-acre lots. Most of them have been broken up into small parcels. The City of Cudahy, California, was incorporated in 1960 (Population: 24,000).
