at parks you could put a quarter in a machine and punch out what ever you wanted. if you misspelled the name you were stuck with it either way.
common. various designs. sort of like a rolled penny machine.

i've seen oodles of this sort. but usually a different design. yours is kinda neat looking and older as Mackaydon showed. i think there's a bunch on ebay right now. there's a large number of similar ones being sold on ebay. you can locate them by searching listing time of between 18:13 and 18:52.

but notice they are the much more common design and the more i think about it i can't say i've ever seen your design. some collectors have interest in odd shapes of tokens. you wouldn't believe the variety of shapes there are in the token world.

at first i thought yours was just cut away parts of the standard 'sheriff badge' design, but yours is unique in its patent on the back, it's age and design.

your's is truly neat. great find.
