Saucier Mississippi
Hello,
Today Dec 27th, 2009 about 17:00 hrs myself and my 10 yr old son CJ were metal detecting on the Biloxi Beach Ms. We were about 1/2 mile up from the Biloxi Coliseum looking for jewelery or clad coins when we got a signal and CJ dug down about 12 inches looking for the target. The target was unfortunately the all-mighty flip top and we were disappointed again. We were about to fill the hole when I looked into the hole and spotted a round object. When picked up and rubbed clean I was stunned at the site of a $500.00 DOLLAR POKER CHIP in my hand. My dreams of a new detector were spinning through my brain when all of a sudden I noticed the Casino Chip was from the President Casino that was TERRIBLYYYYYYYYYY destroyed by Hurricane Katrina!
This Casino was struck by a 30 foot wave that sent this casino and all other floating casino's on the coast up onto high way 90 back in 2005! So I have a neat momento that is most likely worthless unless some collector wants it for his collection. If my luck had been better I would have found a $500.00 Chip from the Imperial Palace that is still operational today. But it still was fun and the boy and I had a good time digging holes and imagining treasure beneath our feet.

Sovereign#48,

I was searching through a bunch of IKE dollar coin and found this dollar token from the Palace Casino in Biloxi Ms. I did a search on TNET and found your older post. Like you, I'm not sure the collecting value and it's a long hike from VT to MS just to spend a dollar but who knows, maybe fate will get be to MS sone day and my one free spin on the slots will be the big winner.. Assuming of coarse that slots still take these thing and not debit cards..

Happy Easter - regards from VT

Wow it looks like you did your home work on casino chips.. Ill book mark that site for sure. I figured my "chip" is old as it is all metal. Chips now days are plastic or on a card. Ill just put it in my collection of " other " items and spin the story it was a left over from a wild time in Mississippi..

Tanks for the return post..

Happy Easter from Vt

I saved a few Casino Tokes from my trips to Vegas in the early -mid 90's .
Cannont say I would have saved any $500 or even 50 dollar ones.

Heck I think I have some from Biloxi from our day trips there , the best way to do it IMO
- Fly out of Atl in the AM then fly back in the PM that way you can loose only soo much money & if you win You Don't have time to give it all back to the Casino.
Did this to Atlantic City once , I won $600 Dollars in the first 2 hours then walked on the Boardwalk / Beach , gave back 100 bucks then flew home with $500 Cash.
These were good memories with my Late Mother & Grand Mother, Thanks to a blessing from my Late great Uncle -
Oren C. Johnson From Platka Florida . I did not even know him but his memory & blessing has NOT been Forgotten.

A lot off topic but like I said , This thread brought back Good Memories , Thanks OP
