WOW ~ that is a cool find!!

Dug my first local Dog Tax Tag today. Been wanting one for a while. Couldn't find much info online for my area.
Can you tell me what is the earliest one listed for Biloxi.
Thanks

Scored another old dog tag last night. This one is a 1928 Isabella Michigan "dug" tax. I "dug" it and I dig it :laughing7:

Missed out on it being the "oldest known" again. This time by 8 years......
Thanks again to Neil for his information :icon_thumleft:

And a 3rd old dog tag from the same vacant lot. This one is a Michigan Kennel tag from 1949.

Dog Tag #91 1896

photo 1 (1).JPG photo 2.JPG

Dog Tag #91 and 1896, no town on tag, was dug in Paris, Texas. Bad pictures as bent double, thin brass and will break for sure if bent straight

Here is few from this summer! I’m guessing the one from Elgin is Illinois not Texas. It was well worn, like my dogs, only bought it for one year and she still is wearing it. I love that I found a number 1! 9B016E7D-1545-4019-B8D5-A14298908941.jpeg

I found this tag in front of my wife's 1820 farmhouse. Here's her account:

I live in my families old house in CT.... 1820. There is a lot of old stuff around from my family in the 91 years of living here.
Roger is acting Detectorists this week with the three grand chlldren in our yard. He found lots of nails, recent pennies, bottle caps, a button.... and a dog tag from 1927 New London NH.
"I know that dog! I have a photo of that dog!" I told Roger.

My grampa bought this house in 1927 and moved with his mom, Julia, from Queens NY. He must have hired Irene Hayes, a widow from New London, NH with her two children, Newell and Isobel and a dog to watch over his elderly moma. I don't know the dogs name, gender or breed, but here it is.

Julia died two years later, Irene married my grampa, they had a daughter named Phyllis, and here I am today!

Everything you find in the ground has a story. Amazingly we know some of the story behind a 91 year old dog tag!

WOW ~ that is a super awesome dog tag!! This is a new discovery piece!

I have the newest edition of Dr. William Bones book US DOG LICENSE TAGS. In the book it currently has 1974 listed as the oldest reported dog tag from New London NH.

I will forward your picture to Dr. Bone so he can update this info in the future printings of his book!

THANK YOU for sharing!

Neil

Found this Dog tax Tag for Here In Punta gorda Florida. I was amazed when I saw the date Relics this old with the towns name on it are very rare here. And I'm sure it's gotta be the oldest dog tag found here for such a small town.
