YEAH! That is a great find!!

The dog tag book currently has 1951 listed as the oldest known tag from TYNGSBORO Mass. I am 100% sure that is the same place, however, the listing in the book will Stay that way and we'll add 1936 TYNGUSBOROUGH Mass as a new listing!

THANK YOU for the report!
The tag was found on a trail behind where there once stood a 1702 home of the son of the founding father of Tyngsborough. Some places you will see the town spelled Tyngsboro. Which is incorrect. It is called Tyngsborough because in 1661 it was the borough of Edward Tyng. The town was then named after Mr. Tyngs son Colonel Jonathan Tyng who was the original owner of the 1702 homestead.
Tyngsboro is incorrect.

ISALC ~ International Society of Animal License Collectors ~ is always wanting to update our O.K. (Oldest Known) tag list for every City, Township, County, and State.

PLEASE feel free to e-mail me if you have old dog tags (not military ID tags) ~ I can check the list to see if you're holding the O.K. tag (send along pictures)! Or, e-mail me and I can tell you the O.K. tag for a certain area.

Sorry, our list isn't "on-line".

PS,
all O.K. are not necessarily that old. Some towns are so small that we have NO tags reported for them. We wanna know about ALL areas.

1842 ?? Maine Dog Tax Tag
I found this at a permission in Yarmouth Maine in the backyard of a house that was “officially” built in 1813 and owned by a very prominent family. A couple coins found here date almost 100 years earlier than 1813. Would love to hear your opinion.

Is this a dog tax tag? Wish it said "dog" somewhere! Found yesterday on an 1870s farmstead. There was still leather between the rivets, suggesting it was attached to a collar or horse tack.

I don't really want to post my dog tax tags, because I live in a small mining town which does not need lots of attention. But I have been curious forever, and the danged Dr. Bone book is near impossible to find. I have 1881, 1882, 1883, 1884, 1885, and 1888 dog tax tags from my little mining town. They are all previously unknown examples so they are definitely the oldest from my town. I suspect they may be the earliest in the entire state. What is the oldest known dog tax tag from Colorado?

Oddcoins, please have mercy and help me!

That is a really nice tag. The patina is beautiful. I would rather find that than a Seated Liberty coin.

Found a 1907 E St Louis tag. What is the oldest? St. Louis didn't start issuing until 1904 but I can't find info on E St Louis.

Just dug this 1933 Dog Tag a few days ago here in Ohio - cleaned up in a Electrolysis Bath.
They are one of my favorite finds - the oldest I've ever found so far is 1918.
Any idea what the oldest recorded Ohio Dog Tag is ?

Cool find!! The first year of issue for the various counties in Ohio was 1918. But the city issued tags were much earlier! The oldest known tag from Ohio is dated 1866 from Cincinnati
