KAS RR tag

I found this tag at an old mining town that dates from about 1870-1901. The makers mark reads, " E. Hoole N.Y."

KPRR began in 1855 but 'waited' till 1869 to take on that name.
After a merger in 1880, it became part of the Union Pacific RR system--and so named.
Great looking tag; and that RR is loaded with history.

Edmund Hoole started making baggage checks in the late 1860s. He continued to manufacture baggage checks until his company was absorbed by The American Railway Supply Co. in 1893.
