Here's a Railroad baggage tag I dug in west central Mississippi. It has MEMPHIS with the number 1919 underneath and NASHVILLE at the bottom of the tag. The company name of Taulmann & Co., New York is also stamped across the top of the tag. I understand Taulmann & Co. were making tags circa. 1857-1858. Does this tag indicate that the departure site was Memphia and the destination was Nashville? Because there was no Memphis to Nashville railroad during this time period. Any thoughts out there? railroadtag.jpg

Hi. I also have a tag like that with 1919 on it. I posted it a month ago. Look on my posts and compare. A mans name and street address in huntsville is on there. I thought it was a badge and maybe a policeman. Best,
