Some history:
"Oil City Derrick (Newspaper) - May 1, 1954, Oil City, Pennsylvania 2— The Oil City Derrick Oil City, Pa. Saturday, May I, 1954 Former Oil City Residents Open New Restaurant Mr. and Mrs. Leo Chacona, former Oil City residents, recently opened their new restaurant and cocktail lounge at 9001 Waukegan Road. Morton Grove, Evanston. Illinois. About a year ago it was decided that it would be necessary to rebuild the restaurant, and the new building comes as the result of nearly a year of planning and building, trying to incorporate all the features that would assure a maximum of comfort, convenience and pleasure for the patrons. The new Weller’s has been designed to meet all the needs of its j patrons. There is an inviting cocktail lounge, strikingly appointed and furnished in ultra modern manner. the main dining room, private dining rooms with bar service and special accommodations, an all new. superbly equipped kitchen and other special features. According to an advertisement and story appearing in the April 17 issue of the Chicago American, the restaurant celebrated its grand opening that date."
