1930's Bus Token

I was digging up my front yard right after I received my first metal detector as a graduation gift. I found this token about a foot down. I live in Monroe, LA which has the oldest public transportation system in the country. A local historian told me that this token hasn't been used since the early 1930's. It's a half fare, meaning that for a nickel a school child could get two tokens to make it to school and back. Everyone else paid a nickel for a one way trip. Hope the kid that dropped this made it home.

Re: 1930's Bus Token

Thanks for the big welcome. It was my first find, and I was tickled to death, let me tell you. I also managed to find this 1940's Bromo Seltzer bottle in my back yard in an old fire pit.
Check out my website and I tell a bit more about it.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.
