Carl Marius Kordahl was born in Menomonie 18 Sep 1894 to Norwegan parents Martin O. & Christina Kordahl, and worked as a cobbler when WWI started. After the war, he lived with his parents and brother at 432 Railroad Ave. in Menomonie and worked as a carpenter. He later moved 50 miles east to Stanley, WI where he was a watchmaker. In 1945 he and his wife, Mabel, were married in Leon County, FL. Carl died in Stanley, WI in January, 1976. I don't know whether they had any children - if you feel ambitious, you might read the Stanley Republican newspaper on microfilm for his obituary.

Awesome info you got for me. I really appreciate it. Where did you get it from?
Probably won't read the obituary, Stanley is pretty far away from me now.
Might be able to contact the register of deeds in Stanley and give them this new information.
Maybe it will help in tracking down family members.
Will keep every one posted, but don't hold your breath.

Here's some data for you....I found alot of reference to NORDAHL as well....not sure if newspaper typo or what, as you will see in the first newspaper clipping. And you will notice some of the census records with names in the brackets. When transcribing census records (which I do and it's tedious!)...many times it's hard to read the handwriting. So whomever had transcribed these census records had a hard time decifering the surname of the individual...and someone (usually a relative) will submit a correction to any spelling errs...but they keep all name spellings with that individual....helps easier in researching.

I will see what other newspaper articles I can come up with later tonight...heading to work now.....oh the joys! :)....

And I will see if I can find any reference to any children he and his wife had...if any.
Hope this info helps .... oh, the second article...I believe that is his older brother, Olaf. :(

Are you sure about the War info? I don't think the US was involved in WW1 in 1916, and there were very few, if any tanks in service by any side at that time.
Although war was DECLARED in 1914, there were no troops in theater until spring of 1917.
Tanks were first used in the battle of the Somme by the British in September 1916. The British had 49 of them. The U.S. didn't use tanks until 1918.

Wondering if any family has claimed these yet. My Great Grandfather was Melvin Kordahl which was Carl's brother. I came across this posting while doing some research on my family history. If they have been claimed, that is great. I would still be interested in any family history available. Thanks.
