    Ring tools...looks like new!

Here are some tools I just bought to straighten out some of my bent rings. I was very pleased with the results and thought I would share.

    Mandrel
    http://www.contenti.com/products/mandrels/320-606.html

    Hammer
    http://www.contenti.com/products/hammers/260-480.html

    They are around $17.00 each.
What I did was put the ring on the mandrel, lay the mandrel on both my knees horizontally, then i tapped the edge of the ring as I rolled it back and forth on my knees. I went slow and it slowly conforms to the shape of the mandrel becoming whole again! I'll never have to settle for a bent ring again.

I did have two rings start to crack then I stopped. But I believe this was only because these particular two rings I had tried to straighten previously with pliers and the were cracking along the crease marks left by the pliers. So don't ruin your rings by trying to fix them with anything but this. It works great!

I once bought a ring at a pawn shop in vegas, well it was about 1/2 size too small so they put it on a mandrell and worked it till it fit perfect. Best ring for fit I ever had, wonder if my ex still has it lol.

I heard a while back that Harbor Freight sold these really cheap but am unable to find them there. Nice job on the ring fix!

This is exactly the kind of information I've been looking for. I found a gold ring last week and I need to straighten it out. Thanks for the great post.

    Re: Ring tools...looks like new!

    Great info, thanks for sharing.

All I have to do now is find some damaged rings, then I can buy one and check it out.

Some undamaged rings would also be nice. Any ring would be nice.

A little late on this one. Harbor Freight has mandrels, jewlers hammers, Watch wrenchs(for removing wrist watch backs, etc. My closest store has all these in the store. If yours doesn't the web site has them.
I know it's here, just need a bigger coil!
