Very cool! Where did you get the ring that fits under the battery cap? I havent seen one of those old retractable key holders in a while...I take it they sell them at police supply places?

Thanks,

Great idea. I need that clip. Wondered what was the best way to attach a line to the pin pointer, and now I know. Thanks for sharing.

I got mine from a guy in the UK.
The shipping is a bit expensive.
Here is the eBay site.
Garrett Pro Pointer Security Attachment Suites Metal Detectors Pinpoint Probes | eBay 66169B?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html %3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D290899771015% 26_rdc%3D1

There is also this guy from a different forum named Pinewood who makes them in the US and sells them for $13 shipped. You have to email him a request at this email: [email protected]

Hope this helps. Happy hunting
Ace

I found that ring on Ebay. Took a while because it came from the UK. But well worth it! Other rings looked cheaper as in not enough metal for the clip to attach to. Oh, that coil lanyard, Ebay as well. Stretches to about 30-35 inches. Keeping it tethered to my belt, you will feel it pull if you leave it on the ground.

I thought that I would need a lanyard at first, but I bought a Buzz Wilson sheath and habitually check before I get up by feeling with my right hand if my Lesche and Propointer is in place. I don't even think about it.

I don't think that I have ever walked away from my pinpointer in hundreds of hunts. A lanyard would just get in my way.

The best thing to use is the coil plastic cord that the casino's use to put on the member cards that you put in the machines when you gamble. The best part is they are FREE and are about 6 inches long relaxed and stretch out to two or three feet in use.they have a ring on one end and a clip to attach to you clothing at the other end THEY WORK GREAT ON THE PIN POINTER

I just cut one from plastic milk jug plastic with an xacto knife and a circle template. Has worked great so far and only cost a little time. To cover the speaker hole shrink tubing works great! You might have to check out the electronics supply sites. I lucked out they had large sizes up to 3" I think Harbor Freight sells rolls of it that would work. Doesn't leave any residue so shouldn't cause any warranty issues!
