Had some stainless at work so I decided to diy a scoop. Drilled the holes tonight. Tomorrow I’ll fold it and rivet it together. I’m probably going to repurpose a drywall sander handle to use on this.

Don’t mind the last row of holes not drilled. My drill press belt decided to give up and shortly after the drill bit said that’s enough.

Here it is put together. I still have to mount the top and handle. I didn’t want to rivet the top on until I decided on a handle because it will be easier to cut the hole then to drill it.

Your scoop is looking good especially for a home made unit. Scoops take a beating, making them heavy duty without weighing a ton takes some engineering.

Great work.

That's starting to look great - a cottage industry in your future?

I've used the Stealth 920iX now for two seasons. A carbon fiber handle would have put the cost up about an extra $100, so I went to Lowe's and picked up an ash post hole digger handle for about $15. An unexpected advantage of that is that the handle tends to float upright in the water. I also added a helper arm to give me better control when hoisting a scoop full out.

Made this out of things laying around a few years ago. Curtain rod, PVC, wire mesh, hose clamp. Super super light. It worked very well. 20180506_185940.jpg 20180506_190028.jpg
