Ive been wanting to go metal detecting for a long time, but whats holding me back
is the uncertainty concerning arizonas laws. what I would like to know is:
Is it Legal to Metal detect on:
1}National Forest Land
2)BLM Land
I have heard that permits are required?
I already know that its Illegal on national parks,monuments, or state trust land.or private land unless permission is given by owner.
Also what happened to federal land?, it used to be the case around Tucson the surrounding desert region was federal land now its all either private ,or State Trust land, both of which is off limits to even walking across!.
One last question: if I was caught metal detecting in an area which I honestly thought was legal, what would
be the ramifications?,arrest/fines/??
Whats the big deal anyhow? if I find something,dig a hole, remove the object, then carefully fill the hole back in
in such a manner which nobody would even know a hole was dug.?
