    Florida treasure hunting question

    Hello,
I have a legal question regarding hunting IN the water on a leased site in Forida's Treasure Coast. I plan on MD near the Sebastian Inlet on the beach. Then I thought about going out in the water and randomly scooping the sand and putting it into a mesh bag and taking it to land and running my metal detector over it to see if any treasure was found. I know that this is silly but I still have to know. Can anyone explain if this is legal or illegal? Maybe I received misinformation when I was told that as long as no MD went into the water that I would be fine. Any help would be greatly appeciated. Just want to know if I can legally do this or not.

    Re: Florida treasure hunting question

This is one of those "spirit of the law vs. letter of the law" questions. You are basically trying to circumvent the laws by doing an end run around it. And besides, do you have any idea how much sand you would have to tote up onto the beach to get lucky?? The lifeguards would probably have you hauled off for being mentally deranged. :P
