    New York Shipwreck Salvage Laws?

So..... Does anyone know anything about shipwreck salvage in New York? I mean, do you need a permit to search for a wreck with a magnetometer? Do you need a permit to dive on it once you get a signl with the thing? And what if another salvage company is looking for the same wreck as you? Do you need a permit for that? I'm so confused.....

Re: New York Shipwreck Salvage Laws?

What level of methods are you referring to when you say you want to "work" it? Like, if scuba is allowed there, and you can just go down with underwater detectors, what's to stop you? Or do you mean that you'll need full-scale industrial dredges or something?
Metal detecting is my one worldy vice!
