Beautiful Hotty-- How close is this to Lake Superior??? How Close to York Island??? What islands are near by, and towns. The book I have has several locations of buried coins, stolen loot etc. Gold coins have been found on the shores of Lake Superior.

Thank-You Jacko and LBP! :-*
I live by Sparta Wi so its a little drive to Lake Superior and York Island,I'm closer to the Mississippi(I think) but I would love to hear what you have on them if I could. :o
Just for the record. I stole this email address from my daughter about five years ago before I knew anything about setting up an
email account. Its embarrassing for a woman my age (48) but I have to many people that email me to go through the hassle of changeing it now.Tho, I have been told that I am still a "hot Mama" I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder! ;) :-* :-*

The last expert on Wisconson was Pete (Free2Detect) in LaCrosse I think, but he seems to not be so free to detect or at least able to post right now since I haven't seen him on...? He was thinking of moving last I heard, but if you can find him you will find no other better!? ?;D I consider the many coins he found to be treasure!

I'll try to post this link in, it appears the area of Sparta goes back to 1851 so the old coins and stuff should be there. http://www.spartawisconsin.org/history.htm Hope this helps, also go to the local libary and check out books on the old days there. The photos in those books should help you place where events and businesses where located.

William "BILL" tompkins, came from the east and settled, on a FARM 4 Mile South of Madison,

He Brought a Large amount of Money With.

He worked his farm & on the side did a little commercial fishing & operated out of the town of Portage.

after he died, one of his daughters found a crudley drawn map.

When the new owner of the property was approached by the old mans daughter, the new Owner Refused her permission. even when offered a share.

the new owner searched himself and found a few coins in tin cans, while digging fence posts.

but the main part of the cache was never found.

The Farm Boarders Highway 51, 4 mile South of Madison
