Description of mines,by Kino and Manje

Started a new thread,not sure if this is old imfo, as I dont have time to search the sites. The areas known as Los Frailes, Los Alamos and Guadalupe, in Kinos roughly translated words," of the 43 mines,each one was sufficent to establish a new camp". The poorest are of 4 marks per quintel and the best 40 to 60 marks per quintel,when tested by fire and quick silver from 24 to 70 marks. Many more mines can be opened, and the royal fifths increased.
From a book by Manje,roughly translated, the mines of Sonora in the past had produced 50 million pesos of silver. Between 1701 and 1703, and half a million pesos left the provence and this did not include large shipments through Alamos.
Other misc,imfo., Kino came to New Spain,on a ship piloted by Francisco Columbus,a realtive of C.C. The indians called the Jesuits the black robes.

A rough description Kino wrote in 1687, Los Fraylas was a rich silver region in the vicinity of Almos.The mines got their names from some columns of white rocks resembling hooded friars ,or frayles which can see perched high above the city. A branch of the mint was established at Alamos, a beautiful city ,wifes of the mine owners wore velvet cloth of gold and dazzling jewlery.
