N.J. - old swim area - site of 1916 Shark attacks

(added this link...it shows an overhead modern day photo with two small arrows pointing to the exact attack sites on the Matawan Creek)

Watch this video and do some additional research about the Matawan Creek location. In 1916 the entire understanding of sharks changed with a series of shark attacks killing several people over a two week period around July 4...up and down the New Jersey Shore. It was the first documentation of deaths from sharks in the U.S> (though they had probably happened before but were thought to be drownings). Pay attention when the video shows old and current images of the Matawan Creek attack site. This whole area was a swimming hole and people would have been in and out of the area between the town and the creek. Worth a visit by someone to see if it's detectable. This is a mile or two inland from the ocean, but that didn't stop the shark. Oh, and Jaws was based on these attacks...(if someone does go please let me know an update by message, thanks)

This is my backyard! This area is still untouched. Slightly difficult to get to because the marsh is quite overgrown. During low tide, you can walk this creek bed. I would venture to say you could find some serious stuff down there.
Funny, I tell people that the Jaws attacks happened in my backyard and nobody believes me.
Great history in this area. My home was actually a carriage house for an old hospital during the Revolutionary War (approx. 1783). No battles were fought in Matawan but they still tended to the wounded. Can't wait to dig up a piece of history one of these days.
    Cheers!

That area isn't too far from me and I will put that on my things to do list. The worst that can happen is that I find nothing, but I'll at least get my feet wet
