Not shure how close to you however, The LIVE OAK sank off Squam Beach in 1769 and Gold Specie has been washing ashore sinse. it carried $30,000.00 ; the Merlin and the Augusta, 2 British Warships, were sunk in the Delaware Channel in 1777. the Merlin was a naval pay ship, Carring Gold to pay General Howe's troops. ; the U.S. Steamer City of Athens, carried $3,000,000.00 when it sank off Cape may. Sounds like some Beach Hunting, is in order <><><><>? these sites are EAST CENTRAL N.J. , Are you Familiar with the story of Jacob Fagan and his Gang, in the Pine Barrens, in the 1770's ? <> Jon Bacon, OUTLAW, Revolutionary war era, buried money on Sea Island. $150,000.00 in Gold and Silver Coins is supposed to be burried on Island Beach <>
