My uncle used to tell me that the old soldiers homes for Civil War veterans were good places to poke around with a detector. Many have been torn down and some are even golf courses now but the soldiers were paid with hard cash and many of them burried their portable savings accounts around the grounds of these homes. I only wish it was as easy to find these things as it is to talk about where they might be. It's raining here......today's not the day LOL. Good luck on your hunting.
