Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
In 1921 the the misson building was repaired by a goverment archaeologist, named Frank Pinkley. In the winter of 1934-5,a complete evavation was made, with the notion of renewing the buildings, and was made by the national park service, under the diection of Paul Beaubien, in late 1935, a large adobe smelter, and a large amount of gold, silver and copper bullion were found. Beside the smelter, were found some very large pieces of silver bullion,to heavy to lift, they were put in the storeroom at the mission, for a short peroid of time.
A treasure hunter at the time,by the name of John D. Mtchell, used a Fisher Radioonic locater,to pinpoint the above mentioned treasure, but never shared in it.
Father Kino, secreted some documents and maps, that were never found,in regards to this treasure and others,so states a diary kept by his soldier compaion ,Mange.
Due to other imformation i have ,I believe I know where this stash of documents, but will never be able to get to it.
Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
What you are referring to is the "SECOND" Tumacacori Mission!
If you check back, you'll find that the FIRST TUMACACORI MISSION, is due west of the Present day Mission!
The first mission is! at the mine site and was later moved by Padres into the Santa Cruz Valley
I doubt that, only a few people have ever seen the Original Mission..
Yes!
It is still there in the Mnts, just below The Virgin of Guadalupe Mine!
AND!
"The Cross" in the cliff, which is just a few hunderd yards north of the Mine!
In an area Known as
Camp Loco!
Of Course,
I am sure that you all know the story/history of Camp Loco ?? RIGHT?
Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
Interesting...his death states his father as GEORGE PINKLEY, but his marriage announcement states SAMUEL Hmmmm....I did read an article where it stated Frank was a nephew of a George Pinkley. Wonder if the papers got it messed up? Wouldn't surprise me none.
Here's his marriage announcement...

Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
First good work Ron and Anne,I believe you unearthed a lot, 2nd yes Captian I do know about both missions, just did not want to elaborate, surprised you did, in regards to some other posts I have read,their is no underground road so to speak connecting to other mines?umm, however their might be more ? to be found , in the right compass direction,although not as some think diamonds, maybe a Hurbert Sutherland could help,if only he was alive, who knows for sure,I think I will take OLD DOGS advice,and be nice,and wisp away, while I try and conjure up what Manage knew for sure,and what father Eusebio {Kino},who passed in 1{711}, and was buried on the bank of the Santa Cruz river,,,,and the Indiians of the time yet knew of a mine with the strong door, and why did father Ramon Liberos try to change the course of a river?{clues to a fortune}
Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
Elaborate?
You do know that there's a book written about all of this, Right?
And! It comes with lots of maps and photos !
So!
SURE!
Why not Elaborate?
It's hardly a secret.....
Just go up "Peck Canyon", turn north at the Ranch fence and drive a couple of ROUGH! miles and up a spooky trail
And!
You're there!
To The First Mission Site!
AKA "Camp Loco" ! ( The topo Map is the same name! )
If all of this is confusing just buy the book, gotz, lot of photos & Maps!

Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
Captain Bill, I did not know about the book, since you have been their, can you describe the condition of the misson, and is it accessable,or fenced off. Are their a lot of people around or is the location just desolite, remote and quiet. Thanks
Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
I am done with this thread peroid, Capt.Bill.please go get some strong coffee and and least 12hrs sleep, thanks for your imput ,and good luck on your hunts.

Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
GhostDog:
You ask where is and "If!" the mission is accessable?
Well!
That all depends on your 4x4, you do have one ?
And, your 4x4 driving !
It's a rough trail and one false move ...
AND! It'll be an even rougher ride down the mntside! :P
So!
The "Accessable" part of your question is answered!
Now!
What is the Mission's condition ?
Well! I did mention that it has been seen by very few people..
That's because of it's remote location..
As to the "condition"
There are four walls...
Well! What's left of them anyway!
Now!
Don't expect to see 8' high walls.. painted white, etc...
No such luck... !
Don't expect to see a "door swinging in the breeze" either !
It is a "ruin" !
Haven't you ever seen a mission in it's "unrestored", just "found", condition?
SAY!
I can show you one that's much easier to get to, If You'd Like to Go out and see it!
You do go out don't you ?
There's even a mine shaft, storage cave, small dam, etc., associated with it
All of this is accessable by an easy trip!
CARE TO GO
"Doc" & I , will be out there, So. Ariz., in March !!!
What do you say ?
Anyone else is also invited !
Re: Tumarcacori, lost forgotten imformation, from my documents
Ok,Capt.Bill, ...........thanks for the imfo description, it is as i envisoned, I might try and make it to Arizona in March, so I can meet you,and size you up,as I will be looking to hire a guide for my half assed planned expedition,to a location close to Tumenacori, and ,I believe you and Bugs could provide the the protection and help me pinpoint the location.........Who is doc.,?,and does he or she go everywhere with you?
