Roadquest,
I've heard rumors of an underground passage under an old Civil earthworks fort in Varina area of Richmond, and there is still possibly some crates, etc. in it. An archaeologist/metal detectorist buddy of mine was telling me about it. One of his students said he supposedly was down in it, but got scared or something like that. I tried to get more info, but never did. Next time I speak to him, I will see if I can get him to dig out more info from the guy if he still is acquainted. This was probably about 5 years ago he told me.
