I don't now about lost treasures, but there are a ton of gold mines in Georgia.
A good place to research are the Georgia Geological Survey Bulletins such as B-112 and B-125, and IC-83.
IC-83 even has a topo map with old mine locations marked.
However, be aware that all the mines are located on private land or government property such as the MMA between Thompson and Washington GA.
This area experienced its own mini gold rush in the 1820's BEFORE Dahlonega, but is essentially off-limits to us as prospectors nowadays.
