As told by John V............

When my great grandfather and his brother Thomas Jackson Rape were young
> and lived on Pigeon Mountain in Walker County, Georgia there was a beautiful
> water fall which is now legendary and the story is that when the whites
> first moved into that part of northern Georgia that the Cherokee would

> barter. Legend was that they knew of a secret cave behind a waterfal on
> Pigeon Mountain and it was beleived that only the Cherokee knew of this
> silver in the cave or where exactly the cave was.

OMG! I know EXACTLY where this waterfall is! I think I smell a new treasure project. Is anyone interested in a field trip? I live 35 miles east of Atlanta in Loganville, but will meet anywhere in N. Ga. Just e-mail me to make arrangements. I have spent many, many days hiking on and crawling in Pigeon Mtn., now Known as Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area. Pigeon Mountain is absolutely honeycombed with caves. From Petitjohn's cavern on one side of the mtn. to Ellison's cave with the Fantastic Pit (600Ft. Deep!) on the other. So although I don't specifically remember a cave near the waterfall (I wasn't looking for it then, either), it is ENTIRELY LIKELY that one is there. The waterfall is a short hike up the side of the mtn. from one of the access roads going to the top. I would like to do this on a weekday as the Mtn. is heavily used by cavers and hikers on the weekend. So if you are interested e-mail me soon as I would like to do this within the next three weeks. :icon_sunny:

Very cool story. Could you imagine playing there as a child and finding that. That's what dreams are made of when your a kid, and I think that's one of the prerequisites for being a Treasureneter. Remembering those dreams.
