Long too late, I live less than a 1/4 mile from the spot (100% certainty), as a young kid, what used to be a dirt road called "Cass Road" is now University Drive, was the outer limits of our "range" of exploring and our school bus route. It's all a shopping plaza now and the north portion apartments. Recall it just being some set aside prairie and farm fields, with a house or barn (long gone), 4 decades ago. In the above post's map, the blue highlight line is actually Brick Road. So many things like this, learned about long too late, the story of detecting in the South Bend area. Can't believe I never noticed this post before now though.
