Story in the Humboldt Independent newspaper reported the same story but in Harding county. Some where near Iowa Falls, Iowa. Spent much time tracking down a couple of other caches. One in gold and silver coins located on a 500 acres of farmland and river bottom.

The one north of me along Lott's Creek. Three barrels of whiskey buried along the east branch of the Des Moines river among the trees. Nice aged whiskey was to be traded to the Sioux Indians. Trouble broke out and the hooch was buried to keep it from the savage wild Indians. Have heard this one since I was a kid.

Sounds like that story Free2Dtect use to tell about the frost coming out of the ground so fast in the spring, the coins were popping up in the air!
