Although I Can imagine the Heart of the Story is True during WW1.
Because of The "Incident & It's Happy Ending with Money Safely in the Bank ,
So he could Sleep at Night
& That doing so is Patriotic
it is Obvious The Incident is Either Bank or Government Propaganda,
To get the other Germans to Do the Same.
I'll guess Most didn't fall For It & Kept their Wealth Well Hidden
