Went looking for Hank Knights lost cave of gold Saturday. Narrowed it down to a strip of land ½ mile wide by 8 miles long. I don’t know if it is his cave or not but I know there is a long string of gold there. Five hours of fighting those sand washes with my 2 wheel drive Chevie. Next time I will take the Jeep. This is a military bombing range and I did find some claim markers on the west side. I will keep you informed Capbil. This is the country other there

This old man has some sore legs. I wandered around on top of the mountain for 5 hours looking for Hank Knights cave. There is gold up there but I have not dug any yet. I sent some information to Captbil as there is enough to go around. ….Art

Hey Stevesno…..Thanks…..I am learning to enjoy my age. I mined only for Placer Gold almost full time since 1981. Then the Doctors told me I should not dive. I had a big hole in my life. I worked on the stream beds for a few years but that was hard work. So I started looking for big treasures. The learning curve is long when looking for treasure.
I spent a lot of years away from home sometimes as long as 3 months. Now my wife is my full time assistant. We pack a lunch and go for a ride. When I stop to look around she picks up rocks and takes photo’s of the area. Now the most important thing is the hunt. If I decide to dig she helps.
I don’t get to excited about gold anymore, but hunting it so much fun and that’s what I have become…A gold prospector instead of a gold miner….Art

Sounds like you've got it figured out! The thrill of the hunt is always the best part of the ride, mother nature is a bonus....but it doesn't hurt to have a recovery every now and then for the old morale

Hey Bob 631…I know what you are talking about. The original entrance for the cave of gold is located about a mille up a steep gully. The cave was cut by water, or some other natural event and continues on the other side of the gully. To tough for me. I located the cave in another gully and it is only about a 1 ½ feet to the top of the cave. I don’t want to open it right now as it would flood this winter if I didn’t build a dam or a diversion for the rain water. The biggest draw back to this location is the 4 hour drive to get there. … Art

Hey Art sounds like a good place to go look. I don`t have a GPS yet can you recommend one that doesn`t take a college degree to run?

It depends on what you want…..All I need is an instrument that will get me close…I also like some thing that has a good go-to indicator….i don’t need one with a bunch of junk maps and all the other bells and whistles….Just something that gives me good readings so I can put them into Google Earth…Art
