SITE DESCRIPTION: In 1999 the U.S. Coast Guard transferred ownership of Two Mile Beach to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge. The 507 acre site is managed to protect one of the last remaining areas of undeveloped maritime forest and beach in New Jersey. The site has boardwalks and two observation platforms along with a 0.9 mile sand and clam shell trail that leads you through the maritime forest habitat. American Oyster catchers are often seen along the beach. Before entering the driveway from CR 621, you can pull off on the shoulder and view the ponds on either side of the road.

f.y.i. ACCESS AND PARKING: The site is open daily from dawn to dusk. The hiking trails and boardwalk area are open year-round, however, beach access is denied from April 1—September 30 to protect shorebirds each year. Two Mile Beach is a wildlife refuge and as such the following (human) activities are prohibited: swimming, sunbathing, surfing, pets, picnicking, kite flying, shell collecting or entering closed areas. Parking area on site.
