Hi, I've been looking for treasure legends in the New York North Country - St. Lawrence County in particular. According to Google Maps, there's a bajillion little towns up here, and I've found stories for two:
The Lake Colton treasure, in Colton, NY, obviously. I've got a thread in another part of the forum trying to find out where the hey Lake Colton actually is.
Isle Royal(e), possibly near Waddington. I have no idea, actually. I see several versions of the story, some say it was buried in an island near Waddington, another claims it was originally hidden elsewhere, found, and became lost again when the finder drowned near Waddington.
Anyway, I'm curious to know if there are any other stories from this region. And, now that I think of it, any tips for research, because I'm relatively new at this an the Internet likes to be a b***h about these things for some reason.
